Tubing borehole pressure generators of the GDS “Plast-T” series are used for gas-dynamic fracturing operations on tubing (coil-tubing) or wireline to improve hydrodynamic contact with the formation and to increase inflow or intake capacity by increasing the permeability of its bottomhole zone due to the effects of combustion products from propellant charges. The generator design allows to perforate long intervals or several intervals per trip.
Special option of the GDS “Plast-64T” (CI), which means Chain Initiation, is designed to create pressure in the tubing by burning propellant charges allowing to perform sequential interval-by-interval perforation and perforation of an unlimited number of intervals using the standard tubing instead of blank guns.
Operating Principle:
The GDS “Plast-T” is initiated by the initiating firing head of the “ISKRA” series (run in well on tubing or coil-tubing) or multipurpose safety adapter sub of the “PZU” series (run in well on wireline) resulting in high-speed combustion of propellant charges causing an instantaneous increase in pressure at a rate up to 10⁴ MPa/s. Gas-dynamic fracturing occurs and a network of cracks is created in the reservoir within the perforation interval. Initiating of the GDS “Plast-64T” (CI) is carried out from the lower gun in the top assembly. As a result of combustion of the propellant charge, the required pressure is created and transmitted to the tubing (skipping the perforation interval), initiates the hydraulic firing head of the ISKRA series and then the next gun assembly. The number of gun assemblies with a chain initiation depends on the declared number of perforation intervals.
Safety:
For perforation of long intervals per trip, the GDS “Plast-T” includes a vertical shock-absorber of the AT-PP series to reduce peak loads on the casing and cement stone outside the target interval.
Main Technology Components
- The GDS “Plast-T” is used for work on tubing or wireline;
- The “Plast” multipurpose software;
- High-speed pressure gauge running in hole in a special container of the KAP stand-alone device of corresponding option to confirm design parameters during perforation;
- Special design of the GDS “Plast-64T” (CI) is a separate technology.
Advantages and Specific Features of GDS «Plast-T»
- The GDS is universal for gas-dynamic fracturing by delivery method: on tubes or on wireline;
- No elements of well clogging after operation;
- Possibility of gas-dynamic fracturing with the use of the GDS “Plast-T” on tubes or on wireline in directional and horizontal wells including filter parts and non-cased boreholes (at specified geological-engineering conditions) as well as small-size casing string with minimum inside diameter 79 mm;
- Possibility of perforation of long intervals or several intervals per trip by using hydraulic firing heads of the “ISKRA” series;
- Possibility of sequential interval-by-interval perforation and perforation of an unlimited number of intervals by using a special option of the GDS “Plast-64T” (CI). Used only together with perforating-explosive equipment: guns or the AKV “Plast-S”. The design is protected by the patent №2812170 RF;
- Multipurpose propellant charges are used in the generators as well as in the GDS “Plast-BK”;
- The AT-73PP small-size tubing shock-absorber is used for perforation of long intervals and in case when maximum reduction of peak loads on the tubing elements is required;
- The GDS “Plast-T” design and gas-dynamic formation treatment method are protected by the patents №2728025 RF and №2730058 RF.
